What is the highest mileage Suzuki??
#1
As a start. my Eiger (2004 K4) has 27064km (16816miles) on it. Just due for a set of rings. Had 1 belt, tyres, 3 plugs and oil changes at 2000km intervals Starter brushes and thats about it. What have yours done?

2600 miles, factory set of tires went about 500 miles, 26 inch mud lites have about 2100 and have wore about 20%. Replaced front wheel bearings, 2 times, left rear once. on the third set of front brakes and three on the back, clutch seems to be fading a little. very impressed with the machine. I was a honda guy and for whatever reason bought the eiger, oh honda would not finance me at 20 and suzuki would. Man I'm glad they did'nt. My dad ran mine out of gas when it had about 700 miles on it and filled up the crankcase with gas by putting the selector on prime. I put about 5 miles on it with my oil full of gas. Still going strong.

3000 miles on my 07 King. Replaced the one-way bearing and fuel pump, rear a-arm bushings (early on), and front brakes once. Very surprised (and pleased) I haven't had to replace wheel bearings yet. Oh yeah.....and half a million of those cheap Suzuki plastic pins!!! Overall pretty happy with it considering the way I ride.

Although the bike itself was not a suzuki, i have seen in an atv magazine a few years ago. An arctic cat 500 (with the suzuki motor) with 45,000 miles on it. He,the owner, said the top end was rebuilt around 25-30,000 miles. It was used in a lumber yard and ran 24 hours a day,7 days a week. There was a picture in the mag. of the odometer but the owner said the odometer stopped working about a year ago(from that date) so it had more like 52-55,000 he said. Obviously things broke/wore out, but routine maintenance is all he did. CRAZY!

Brakes: Front pads repl but rear still good. Requires a rearfoot brake cable. Steering top bush/mount will soon be repaired as the bars wobble sideways. Put a K&N air filter in when new- never cleaned but regular checks. Nothing in intake duct when wiped with a clean white cloth. Battery still ok. So there's a more detailed summary of how the Eigers' health is. Not too bad for the mileage is it?

Used every weekend for exploring, fishing etc. After all they are designed to be used not parked up in sheds. Treat them right and they last forever. Don't know what you guys do with them but see heaps for sale over there with only a few hundred miles on them. Why buy them to sit in a shed?

Well have just stripped it down to a bare chassis. Going to get it sandblasted and re-paint. Only one crack-or poor weld-found. Right at front left corner where the crash bars bolt on. The robot that welded that join must have had a bad day. Otherwise, for the mileage, it's in great nick.
But must say what a ***** -of-a-machine to get to bits. I guess, that as these are cheap in the US of A, you wouldn't go to all this trouble. But here they are SOOO expensive it is worth it. One can still get around $US4000 for a good one where they are around $US9-10000 new!!!!!! We are getting fleeced. It's about half price to get parts from U.S.A. than here (incl freight which is horrendus) I recently got a plastic cover in for 10% of what it was here. And those Plastic clips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now stripped down the head/piston assy. The cam is totally unmarked. The compression rings good but the oil ring assy was stuck fast. Hence the oil consumption.
Bore wear is less than my micrometer can measure accurately so less than .0005" (Half a thou) Not bad for 16000+ miles.
Found the oil cooler over half blocked with mud. Good clean out with a hose and now clean fins. That should stop the fan cutting in so often.
Washed out the internals too-all sorts of black sludgy crap came out. This interesting as it has always had oil changes/filters at very regular intervals. Must be because the cooler is always full and and crud present, must drop out of suspension while the bike is sitting. I use either 10-40/15-40 mineral or semi-synthetics. And Fram filters-never an unknown Chinna one.
Never had any problems using car oils. Cannot see why I should pay more for bike oils when the slutch slippage is nil. This arguement is always being thrown about.
Leaking rubber join on 1 hose also fixed. Disassembled front calipers and lubed slider pins and freed up the rear brake cam. Should stop properly now. Still origional rear shoes.
All suspension bushes and shox totally servicable. So for the usage it's a value for money machine.
