Won't start,
#1
Hello, have two LT230's, just picked up, one runs one doesn't.
The person I purchased it from said it ran last year and I believe him, good friend, however he did say he thought it blew a head gasket and showed me where, where he was pointing was valve cover front.
Anyway tried kicking over forever, nothing, so I took off carb and cleaned all out - it was dirty, put back together and nothing.
I did notice that if I put gas in the carb it sounded like it wanted to start but wouldn't also while kicking over - exhaust or smoke comes out of air cleaner box?
I did seal cam cover with little permtex outer edge.
kept changing plugs, excellent spark also, there was some gas on plug, have rebuilt snowmobiles engines, dirt bikes and so on before.
Seems like its not getting gas, but checked pet **** and everything is good have plenty of gas going to carb?
Could a valve or something to do with cams causing problem, the atv did run last year?
The other owner did have a bunch of wires hanging, however did get a wire diagram, everything seems ok, got excellent spark, fuel going to carb and no start??

sounds like a similar problem i had i rebuilt my motor that ran fine before i took it apart minus the bad smoke when it ran so when i put it back together it had good spark carb was clean so just started squirting gas in the carb n it wuld fire up so i pull the line from the tank to the carb ad it was air locked then it fired up np....... but another experience i had was i bought a twin cylinder snowmobile and i was also promised by a fried that "it ran last season it just needs the carbs cleaned" and it had smoke coming out of the carb like in your situation so at that poit i had never messed with small engines so i sent it to my friend who has been rebuildig motors forever so he got it took it apart and the smoke that was coming out the carb was because the piston was shattered. i would take the head off and just look and see if anything doesnt look right and if you dont know what to look for upload pics
