Default Is there a way to tell what year this is?

So I'm trying to tell what year this Suzuki LT250R Quadracer is. Is there anyway to tell? I don't have the actual quad in front of me so I can't look at the VIN. The only things I really have is these pictures as well as knowing it has a 6 speed transmission. Is there anyway to pinpoint the year?

Also is there a way to tell if the motor is original and the same years as the frame? Should the numbers on both match? What letter or number should I look for on the VIN in both the frame and motor to determine the year?

the generations are grouped like this basically.
85-86.
87.
88-90.
91-92.

85 and 86 didn't have the powervalve and were only a 5 speed. the easiest way to tell the old motors is that their grey in color compared to the blue of the new ones. they had the easiest chain adjuster but are known for their weak frames.

87 i have heard is the fastest year but perhaps the hardest year the find parts for. the motor is different from all the other years slightly but i'm not sure exactly how. i believe the frames were beefed up a little for this year too and the frame is also a little different from the 85-86.

88-90. this year had the easiest time for getting motor mods. the motor was changed a little and so were some other things but i'm nopt exaclty sure what.

91-92 these years had beefed up frames as well as different shock mounts. supposedly this is the best year for the frame. i beleieve the motors are the same as the 88-90.

Did the 87's have the 6 speed transmission? What year did that start? Also did the 87 have the power valve motor? Is there anyway to tell what year the motor is? The motor is what I'm most concerned about as I'm not sure that it's original.

Also internally are there any motor differences in any years from 88-92? I'm wanting to have this motor rebuilt and want to know what year the motor is from to order parts.

87 had power valves and in my opinion was the fastest make of them.
