Question Homemade atv racks

Has anybody tried to make new racks? Would 1/2" eletrical condiut pipe with sand or concrete inside be strong enough? Thanks in advance for any help!

it all depends on what your going to put on it conduit may be a little to thin but could work ive made probly 20-25 racks for me and my friends (im a welder and i get all free materials from my shop) so its worth a shot its not really a gamble of anything except time

A friend of mine (a plumber) made a rack out of thick wall copper tubing.

Down on the farm we had a couple of the original Honda ATC110s with racks we made from bent conduit welded together. I sold those bike a few years ago and the racks were still on 'em and working fine...

Okay, I think i'm going to try and make one. What did you use to bend the condiut? do you have any pictures of your racks?

A conduit bender like an electrician would use. Sorry. no pics, I sold those bikes a few years ago...

Look at a few factory ones and find a design you think you can improvise around.

Can you get conduit benders that have less then a 5" radius? I was looking around and that was all i could find. I would like a 2" or 3" radius. Thanks for all the help!

I think we had about a 4" one. That was a LONG time ago... Any shorter turns you could cut at 45 and weld.

conduit is cheap but if i was gonna make a set of racks that i wanted to be sturdy i would at least go with mild steel tubing
