While replacing my air filter I noticed a double wire screen in the air box between the filter and carborator. Does anyone know what purpose this screen serves? I have a Arctic Cat 300 and it has a Suzuki air box. It looks like the screen would reduce air flow. Has anyone removed theirs?

 

its just a small metal screen man. i think its there to prevent large chunks of debris to go to the engine if the filter is off. theres no way something like that could restrict MUCH airflow
