just put new rings in a lt 230e it had a dome top piston now it is running hot it didnt run hot befor it just smoked like a 2cycl with too much oil mix
now the motor is running too hot the head pipe dose not glow red
and it has a ping or rattel like sound up top like valves are too loose
what could be wrong?

 

Im not an automotive mechanic, but it sounds to me like the timing is improperly set.

 

Ya it's either the timing is too advanced or it's running too lean.

 

I'd pull the spark plug and check to see if its burning white, if it is, I would recommend riching up you air/fuel screw and see if that helps.
