Default which 400???

so back in 05 i bought a brand new 05 400ex. i upgraded from a yamaha timberwolf 250 4x4. so when i first started riding it, i thought it had all kinds of power. which it did. 5 years later i traded for a 2005 450r. i love everything about it, except that i miss the functionality of my 400 on the trails VS the 450r. riding the 400 i felt the power was ok but nothing exciting was going on. i had a hot cam stage 1, full pipe, jetted, K&N, open air box. so im curious as to when the time comes which 400 should i buy? i really like how reliable my 400 is. only had to replace two sets of rear wheel bearings, and a battery in the 5 years of owning this machine! im also interested in the z400, mostly because of the upgraded suspension, DOHC, and fuel injection! let me know what everyone thinks.

Well the z isn't a 450, but imo i would rather have it over a 450. I have the new 09 z and love it! I ride alot of tight trails and some open trails and its perfect. I think the z makes a perfect trail machine and a once in awhile track machine. I love it. Espically the 09 with efi.

i couldnt agree more. i wanted a 450r for the power. mostly because i wanted something different. if i do get a new 400, i definately want fuel injection. i know the EX has a carb. but i did like my 400ex. i will probably keep my 450r and get a new 400. the one thing i didnt like about my 400ex is that it would overheat and wouldnt start unless it was pop started. liquid cooling is the only way to fly with a piston that big.

when I bought my 09 z I compared the z with the ex side by side. caveman tech. reliable and safe . the z crazy tech. and a great quad. love mine easy to upgrade. I recommend new bars, air filter and computer chip. mine screams and is a blast to ride. red is fastest Seth 03
