Default Lt230S to Lt230E motor swap

Has anyone swapped a 230e motor into a older 230s frame? I'm looking into doing it on my 86 230s. Yeah call me crazy... I know i hate to get rid of the old kick start, but it is for my wife. Has anyone ever done this before? seems like a pretty straight foward swap. Anyone out there in pa want to do a trade LT230s motor for Lt230e motor...

the S and E model frames are too different for a swap. there is a night and day difference in the frames. the E model frame is an inch wider and an inch longer. you can try to find an aftermarket electric start system for it, i believe GOKI still makes one.

i would really love to have the auto clutch and electric start. has anyone modified the motor mounts to fit? i know i can find a electric start kit but would like to fit the 230e motor in it. i already had someone contact me about a 230e motor and would really like to do the swap. thanks for the input it looks like the front motor mount is the only one different. I could just fabricate a new mount.

Yeah looking at some pics online and they are alot different. the 230e motor is a lot wider which affects the foot pegs, the brake and shift lever. The 160 that bigcam400 has is a similar swap. the 230e may be wider though. the front motor mount would definitely have to be modified as well as the brake lever, shift lever and foot pegs. I would also need the wiring harness, voltage regulator and the list goes on. Does anyone want to swap me quad for quad for a 230E chain drive or something similar? i have a 86 230s

well if you can find a good machinist or something you might be able to have them make you some custom motor mounts so you could swap the motors.

another thing to consider is that the front motor mount for the E model is that the long bolt that is in the front goes through part of the frame. there is really no way to modify the frame to accept the E model front motor mount. the verticle bars in front of the engine are thinner with a bolt hole welded halfway into the verticle bar on the E and thicker on the S model with the motor mount welded on the side of the verticle bars.

i live about 2 1/2 hours from the PA state line and a buddy of mine wants to get rid of his E model but it needs a little TLC.

The mount would definitely have to be fabricated lower in the frame, due to the location of the starter motor. It's doable but a little more fabrication than i had hoped.

I live about 4 hours from the PA/OH line if your buddy is willing to travel we might be able to make it work... Mine needs some tlc too (top end/ control arm bushings)... Send me a message if he's interested.
