Default 1985 suzuki 230 engine cover removal problem

just purchased and started to tear down for rebuild 1985 suzuki 230 quadsport. following clymer instructions, but right side (clutch side) engine cover is unbolted and will not come off. Seems to be stuck in middle of cover?

did you pull the clutch actuator out? it pulls up out of the top of the clutch cover. and did you remove the bolt hidden in the oil filter hole?

if you didn't pull the clutch actuator out, it is still being held by the pressure plate. And remember during reassembly, you have to assemble every thing in the left side of the engine not on the right side. I have built over 100 lt230s engines, it is really easy. Make sure you use Lucas Oil Stabilizer for putting the internal parts back together, and test shift the trans before you seal the cases up and use Lucas on the trans gears, shifter forks and when you seat the piston. be sure it goes into every gear and neutral.

Thanks. the clutch actuator. That was it. The clymer manual is garbage and forgot to mention this step.

yeah i agree the manual sucks. but that isn't really a missed step. I got certified to work on these old lt230s, it's just a tip from a mechanic. just something i learned early on about the engine.
