Question Glowing header on the Eiger

I recently put a snorkel on my 05 Eiger and ran the intakes up to the front fender. I also sealed theair box. When I was finished with my project, I started my quad and noticed after taking it for a spin aroun the yard, my header pipe was glowing red. I'm assuming I need to re jet. I did a plug test and the plug is black. I'm running my quad at 1500 above sea level. Any suggestions.

Sounds to lean, what size pipe did you use? I did one with 1.5" pipe and had to use the largest jet in the dynojet kit with the needle in the 2nd from the bottom position. Hope it helps and good luck

Sounds like it is too lean but plug was black. I think it would be wise to richen it up a bit.

my mistake, the plug was white. which does mean it is running lean. was looking at getting a moose stage 1 jet kit. It comes with more jets than a dyno jet kit.

Way to lean. You need to test to see which jets are lean. Were you having any ridability issues?

HMT, when you say largest jet in the jet kit, what # did you use? Stock main jet is a #122 and the Moose stage 1 comes with a #108 up to a #124. By largest jet, do you mean you went higher in numbers? I'm kind of new at the whole jetting thing.

The bigger the number the larger the jet that allows more fuel. You might need to look an see if there's a number/size difference for the moose an kehin jet that's stock on the eiger

ok, I'm a little confused. What exactly does running too lean mean, doese it mean too much air or not enough air? I did another plug test. I put a brand new plug in and let it warm up, ran it around the yard and down the street. The header is glowing orange. I pulled the plug and it is BLACK. That means I'm running too rich, not getting enough air in the mixture, correct? That would make sense to me because I'm drawing air from a further source through an 1 1/2" pipe (the snorkel runs up to the front fenders). thanks for the help, sorry to sound like an idiot on this matter.
