i found a guy selling a 230s carb with a uni filter. he has a 25 pilot jet and 4 other size main jets all bigger. i think i may get that and that might be all i need. if not i may try opening up the pilot jet a little. nothing to lose on that since i can get a complete oem rebuild with jets for 13 bucks shipped

Yup, there ya go. I run the off brand jets in my YFZ. They match up number wise perfectly with oem for half the cost.

I called my local Suzuki dealer and they have hundreds if not over 1000's of jets for my carb. And cheap as hell to so I can avoid shipping now and get them cheaper

as soon as i can i will. im gonna try leaving the main alone but first i wanna see what number jet it is. im gonna bring the pilot up and see what that does for me. they told me 2.95 for pilot jets and 3.95 for the mains. i think thats a pretty good deal.

Yes I will be messing with the needle to. I picked up a pilot jet number 25 on lunch so when I get a little time I will get my pipe back on and put the jet in. If I need to I will mess with the needle

And there hundreds or thousands of jets went to a few after I went there and said no those aren't the right jets. I haven't pulled mine apart but I pulled a 230 carb apart on the trail over the weekend. They were really short with a bigger coarse thread they wanted to sell me

Well that pilot is only going to make the plug blacker... so ya, you're gonna need to mess with the needle lol

Yup there are small and big round jets and hex jets. Then you have keihin jets which are numbered on a different system and don't fit anyway. DJ jets. Shindy jets. Like carb tuning isn't hard enough, they have to complicate things with millions of different jets.

well from what i have read i was getting a lean backfire after reving it up and coming back to idle. so i wanted to try richening up the idle to maybe get rid of that. i believe my main jet is fine since the plug was black and im not at idle much when riding. i still may have to mess with the needle. ill get that new jet in and get the pipe back on and go from there. also i dont know if it has anything to do with no spark arrestor but im gonna say no. this is my first quad but i do know a decent amount about stuff like this. i was getting a lean backfire on my 650 honda. i have a 4 to 1 header with it wide open. i had to adjust my mixture screws on each carb. they factor in at idle to 1/8 throttle. i had to bring them out more and i got rid of the backfire. i hope all goes well but we will see. i will keep everybody up to date on this stuff so others know what i had to do. also just picked up a pretty clean mid 2000's eton 150cc quad for 300 bucks. so i will be working on that also. doesnt need much but i just rode it up and down the alley and it seems like a decent little quad for my wife and kids to mess around on
