Default Couple of questions on a 03 Vinson foot shift

So I am looking for another quad to add to the collection and I have came across a 2003 Vinson foot shifter. It only has 235 miles and looks like it has been ridden around a yard a few times and then parked under a car port for the last 10 years. The person selling it says that they got it from the original owner and cleaned the carb out and put a new battery in it and cleaned it up. So I went and took a look at it and it starts and runs fine, carb could use a little more cleaning and the oil would need to be changed. No big deal.
The things I noticed about it that I am very unsure about are.
When you put it in park it still rolls, It is in N on the foot shifter and P on the hand shifter and the cable engages the leaver on the rear diff., and it makes a clicking like it is engaging. But it still rolls forward and back?? Does something need adjusted or is the parking rod broken in the diff?
Second, like I said it starts and runs and idals fine, but when you start to roll on the gas like after shifting gears it makes a noise that sounds like it is coming from the bottom end of the motor. It mainly made it when you would load it up like right after shifting or bogg it in a higher gear. It kindda sounds like a low rattling noise like from the bottom end. Does not do it when you rev it in neutral. My friends 01 Quadrunner 500 foot shift makes the same noise sometimes, but his has been rode hard and has over 3k on it so I expect it to make some noise. Any ideas?
I am used to my King Quad 700 making little noises from the drivetrain, but I do not know what is normal for the vinson. I had a 03 Vinson years ago but it was auto and it had little weird noises that took me awhile to get used to.
I just do not know this model well enough to want to buy it without more information. I would hope the with only 230 miles it is not trashed to bad.
Any information would be great. Thanks

I went ahead and bought the Quad hopping that with only 235 miles everything will be O.k.
I started looking at the parking issue. I pulled the cap above the parking lever on the rear diff and the spring and the pin looked good however It did not make sense what the pin would slide into to lock the rear. It seemed just to be sitting up on top. There was no were to slide the flat spot on the pin into that I could see. When you move the lever back and forth and looked down inside the housing it looked all the same. I am thinking that maybe the whole thing needs to be rotated 180?
Does anyone know of a link to a exploded view of the rear end?
As far as the other issues I think the thing just needs a good day on the trails.

I read a post from several years ago about adjusting the parking issue by rotating the parking shaft with the lever disconnected at the differential. I think his screen name was Vinson521. I tried this and still no park. He also said there was another thing to do but it was more involved. So if anyone knows the other way please let me know. I am wondering if the previous owner lost a part out of the housing. When I pull the cap all that is in there is a spring and the parking pin. When you put the pin in the housing and rotate the shaft I can feel the parking groove, but it seems like the pin has to much play. Also I can not figure why the pin has a flat side, I tried rotating the pin around and it does not ever seem to lock into anything on the flat side this is why I am wondering if something is missing. Right now I have just pulled the pin out until I can get it figured out. I do not want it to get hung up on anything.

I have a 03 Vinson foot shift and to put it in Park you either need to step on the foot brake or squeeze the lever on the hand brake for the rear. These are good quads I have about 2700 miles on mine and it is a work horse. All I have done to mine is clean the carb.

thanks but holding the brakes is not the issue.
Went to my local dealer yesterday and looked at the parts diagram and looks like everything is there. Asked the service guy about it and he had no clue, of course he said to bring it in. So I guess I will just not have park for awhile, it is not to big a problem..
