Where I live if you buy used it will be beat to crap, and to wait to find a good used one you'll probably die of old age first. Very few good used, most people around here are too cheap to even change the oil and think it's cool to run them down rivers (fairly shallow ones) and drown'em out, still don't change the oil. My '06 LTR is in better shape than 90% of the 6 month old ones.

I'd prefer an efi model (even used) over carbureted, so much cleaner running if you fun all seasons and big elevation changes.
