Default lt250r for trail riding?

Iam thinking of getting a lt250r. I mostly just ride in trails and fields. Does any one have any experience on these quads in trails. And are they good on hills? And will the frame hold up to this kind of riding?

Of course it will hold up on trails and fields. Back in the 80s my friends and I had the TRX250R, LT250R, Banshee and all we did was trail ride with them. No problems with hills at all.

What year are you looking at?

Of course check it over really good. Look at the rear shock mount, front A Arms mounts and lower frame rails. I've looked at quite a few used ones around my area and have yet to find a cracked frame....everything else on them was beat, but the frames were fine. Ideally look for one that is owned by one of us older guys that has had it since new....shouldn't be beaten up too bad. :-)

BARE performance used to make a nice Gusset kit for the LT250r. They don't list them on their site anymore, but it couldn't hurt to give them a call.

We all did. Got in the woods and the logs would hang us up, but they are sport quads so you give up a little ground clearance for performance.

Yeah.....but aren't they pretty light and easy to move around?

Oh yeah they are not a problem to move around and get them off stuff. I don't like 4X4s and never had much use for reverse so I'll be picking them up and moving my trikes and quads for a long time.

Back in the 80s issues of atv magazines it was reported the top speed was 72 mph for the 250 quadracer, 74 mph for the 350 banshee, 76 mph for the 500 quadzilla. Any of those could go much faster with taller gears.
