Default 89-90 quadrunner 250LT-f 4x4 question

hey guys I was having issue with hard to start , when ran and warmed up easy to start , I had few suggestion of checking compression , was only getting 40lbs so another suggestion was valves so ive just took head off and valves seem good , but lifters are in ruff looking shape , almost looks like wore down , the cam looks in good shape , any suggestions

Could it be weather related? For frigid starts, a thinner oil like 5w-30 conventional motorcycle oil should help. Also, keep your battery on a tender to keep it fully charged for more cranking power. Batteries only have half yield in cold if left unattended. Clean air filter might help too. Also might want to try priming the fuel line before start up or adjusting the flu mixture screw on the carb.

I would check/reset the valve gap. Then Recheck compression, if it's still at 40 it's time to pull the cylinder and check the rings and piston.
