I recently re-inherited my old quad from when I was a kid. My brother jumped it over things it should not have jumped over, and then parked it (for I am guessing about 10 years or so).

The quad was spraying fluid when he parked it and it hasn't been touched since.

The question is, where do I begin?

I have some knowledge of engines and mechanics, but I haven't touched anything really mechanical since high school. Any help would be appreciated. I want to do this project myself (it's a bet with my brother).

 

what kind of fluid...? you will need to change the plug drain the gas from all lines tank etc. change the oil.. clean and most likely rebuild the carb... replace the battery.. check all break lines/cables..ckeck the throttle cable and see that it works free and does not bind lube everything. and go from there...

 

Not sure what type of fluid, he didn't know. Assumed oil.

 

well it wont take long to find out....if its not water cooled its oil......
