There is often a compression release device on the camshaft of ATV's to make em easy to start. If it runs good, starts good and does not burn oil, I wouldn't worry. If it has a pull start, it should pull kinda hard. My Arctic Cat 400 pulls pretty hard to start and my 500 pulls like pulling about 10 chainsaws at once.

You should not test compression on a cold engine. Run engine up to operating temp then stop. Allow oil to drain back into pan. Open throttle wide open then connect comp tester and allow 4 revolutions to test compression. this will give you an accurate reading.
