Just bought one and the carb was gunk ed up by ethanal. Cleaned all jets, got it started and it is a hard start. Have to choke it and idle adjustment needs to be at like 1 turn. When it starts, it's at high idle so I turn the adjustment all the way out and idle goes down but not to normal, still to high. Played with and found that if I put my hand over the intake to restrisked the air, it will go to a perfect idle for 10-15 seconds and it goes back up if I don't keep my hand there. It revs up perfect, just the idle and starting. If I shut it off, I have to start all over again. It does not have an air filter yet, i just ordered one. Help!

 

Sure the jets are clean and open,good fuel flow to the carb,needle and seat working ok?Carb slide and bore clean and slide not sticking? Plus check the intake manifold for cracks causing air leaks and lean running condition. Plus not having the filter or an air box can be the main cause of this.
