Another 86' LT230E question

I'm working on that same quad again. I got some of the parts (wow $68.00 for a front sprocket and gas cap). Question, I think my brother-in-law ran the chain UNDER the upper chain guide. I believe it should go on top of the roller guide. I think he did this to try to control the sprocket slipping. It seems to be binding under the guide. It's the upper roller on the swing arm. I believe there is only one upper guide.

Alright this is how it should go. The chain should have a guard below it and above it. The one below it should be on the swingarm. Then the one on top will keep tension on it while the suspension goes down. if I understood you right I think the owner had it right. Also you paid way to much for that sprocket. I bought a aftermarket one from Rocky Montain ATV fot $15 and its held up great. If you have any other questions let me know.
