Lost Spark due to Roost Boost?
#1
Hi everybody, just to try and get another headache out of the way, my 88' Quadracer 500, has no spark. It does have a roost boost though, and since I've never heard of any quadracer losing spark, could it be the roost boost? They quit making them...anybody know why? and that must have been for a reason, whats their purpose?
The guy I bought it from, said, before it lost compression (hole melted in side of piston), it would start right up one day and run good for the whole day, or you could kick it all day the next day and it wouldnt start. I am just thinking about taking out the roost boost and seeing if it works without it, would this work? Thanks!

The Roost Boost was a breakerless ignition system that really made no prefomance gains. I would remove it and go through the whole electrical system to check for broken or burned wires. You might also have a bad coil or plug wire or cap. I removed my key and handle bar mounted kill switch because I had a bad connection in the switch. I now use a pro design tethered kill that attaches to me and I use this to stop the motor just to keep things simple and clean looking.
