Should I trade my ds for quadzilla

There is a 1990 zilla all decked out for 5600 on planet sand .com I have seen them at the dunes and they fly. I am thinking about trading him for it. I need some info on the how much do they weigh how do they handle. It has porting pipe carb filter what kind of horse power do you think it would have.Are they reliable. Also do you think he is asking too much.Check it out at planet sand. Thanks

I went and looked at the site and saw the bike so i could justify this price. It apears to me to be a very very clean unit, and the swingarm alone is a thousand dollars, however it apears he still has stock shocks and the stock lighting on it. I believe this price is about a thousand bucks to high. The one thing I like about it is that everything apears to be redone and in good shape. I bought both of my Zilla's in running condition for 900 each, but I spent $7000.00 on the one on the quadzillathon page, and the new one I am working on i will have about $10,000 in it but it will be an extreme alchol turboed bike (dune only). One other point of it is that the swingarm on this bike is a bit long for overall duning (it will be great for hill shooting), and not at all desireable for dirt, or trail riding. As for reliability, It really comes down to a maintanence issue, but that is with all bikes. Plus you will have much greater parts replacement luck with your DS, then an eleven years old machine. Would I ever part with my Zilla's I don't think so, and I have ridden everything to date except the Cannondale. If I were you I would contact the seller and see how firm he is on that price, If you can get him down to 5 g's or less then you should be making a solid deal. But just be sure this is what you want.

So as you can tell the LT is about 70 LBS lighter and loses a fair amount of weight with the loss of the stock exhaust system.The Zilla is also about 3 inches narrower and 2 inches shorter which will make the Zilla feel more nimble(I don't know if the one in question has been modified).Horse Power wise, its hard to say without knowing specifics about the particular bike your looking at, but to be general a piped ported Zila should make around 65 to 70 RWHP.My advice is analyze what you want, if you want the baddest, fastest machine that ever will be made and you wouldn't mind losing a new bike for it, without question go for it, the Zilla WILL NOT dissapoint! don't get the zilla. the doctors will have to reattach your arms to your body every time you give it alot of gas. this is a really good quad and the only reason i would rather have a DS is because it is cheaper to run and you will not have to work on it as much. overall the Zilla is a better quad.

Well I will tell you that we end up working on the DS in the group probably twice as much as my zilla, but I built my ZIlla's from the ground up, and I maintian them very well. I also have just about everything aftermarket on it, like shocks, laeger swing arms, etc. Oh and by the way, I went to the site and looked at this bike, you will have a real hard time finding one like it for 2500. Like I said I think you could get him down atleast a grand and as long as there are no bearings or internals to replace you should have a solid ride.
