I own a 91' lt250r quadracer. Well I just took my Head off again today and figured out that there are a couple scratches in the top of my jug where it seals to the head, that is why the coolant is leaking out. However I think that head still seals because it runs great but it leaks. What would be the best way to fix these scratchs? They arn't cracks, it just looks like the person that had it apart before me didn't have F**k**g idea what he was doing.

Also what size of jet should I be running? I have an FMF Fatty pipe, boysen power reeds and is bored .75 mm over. It is jetted at 240. Thats what it says to run with an FMF pipe. But it is bored out so should I run it Richer if so any ideas on how much?

thanks,
chuck

Yu can have the top of the jug milled by about any machineist, this will create a higher compression. Becarefull removing the studs! For the jetting, you sould start rich, then work your way to a good dark tan colored plug. I am assuming you have the stock carb, I ran a #280 same set up, but had the needle 2nd groove from the top.

I think the only thing that requires changing the jets are temp., altitude, and swapping pipes or modifying airboxes. Changes inside the actual motor don't do anything to the air/fuel mixture...

Disregard the last portion of fasternu's post. Any change made to the intake ports, intake tract, exhaust port etc would require a mixture change.

It isn't really clear to me whether or not Chuck1221's cylinder has a scored sleeve or if the cylinder head has scratches on the top of it where it mates with the head. The post isn't clear to me. Anyway make sure and have the surfaces mated.
