Me and my have been having arguments lately about who's quad is faster in a race. So we are going to race some day(hopefully soon) down a flat tar road about 4/10ths of a mile. He has a totatly stock 87 honda trx 250r (exept K&N filter). I have a 91 suzuki lt250r quadracer bored .75 mm, FMF Fatty pipe, and Boysen power reeds. He also isn't the best driver at all, he has hit my friend a couple of times and me once, also a couple other close calls. We are going to have a little bet on this. Who would you put your money on?

Well to be quite honest, thats no where near a fair race, hes stock and u have mods, so more than likely ur gonna take him easy, unless maybe he decides to sneak a little 114octane racing gas in his tank. But thats not even a question, u should eat him alive. Now stock for stock, u would be gettin ur a$$ ripped, providing hes not as bad as u say as a driver. But in this situation, my money is on u, dont let me down. RIDE RED.

Quite the contrary I believe. The LT250R seemed to be the only stock 250 to pull hard in 6th from what I can remember, not even the mighty Tecate mustered the grunt that the LT made (6th on the Tecate was like an overdrive). The LT should take it stock vs. stock and in your configuration should take it easily if it isnt tired.

the 250r 6th is like an overdrive too. the LT will win the race hands down just because of your mods. but if both bikes were stock the LT would still win the drag race its just a little bit faster than 250r's . and i know lots of you honda guys are gonna get upset over this so go ahead and whine about it if you must but i'm just stating the facts. not that 250r's suck though their my dream quad.

ah i see the 5 speed works fine for me anyways, i never reach 6th on the honda anyways when im riding on the track, only when i want to make someone elses quad look silly

I raced a Bone stock 250R, with the exception of a DG silencer. I have a very mildly ported LT250R with a pipe and Keihin 35 carb. I raced the 250R, Raptor with a pro circuit T4, 2 heavily modified 400EX's on and abandoned 1/2 mile road. I took everyone in the hole shot, the Raptor walked by me very slowly at about the 1/3 mile mark, I took the 250R by 1 or 2 quad lengths, and the 400's by 2 - 3 quad lengths. We repeated these races for a while I consistantly took the 250R, but if he had the same mods as me I think the 250R would have won. The Raptor beat me all the way once when I had a bad start, but I was surprised he did not walk away in the mid range, and I am surprised he did not hit the rev limiter on top.

Then we all went in the woods including a mojave, and no one had any advantage. Everyone can tout how fast there quads are but it shows in real life riding situations (not drag racing), its all up to the rider.
