need new plastic
#1
Recently on a trip to Little Sahara in oklahoma i blew the rings in my '85 LT250. Seems whoever put the piston in my bike before i bought it forgot to put in the tension washers on the pin. Not a good thing. This has forced me to move my winter tear down to the present. I am going to change the looks of my qaud a bit. I would like to know if anybody knows a company that produces "shiny" or smooth plastic. One of the guys i ride with is rebuilding a '86 Lt250 and he purchased new plastic from Maier and it had a rough finish. So i thought that one of you guys might now where i could find what i am looking for. The only problem is i want black plastic, but it has to be shiny. Thanks for any help

I saw a pic of somebodies LT250 with brand new Maier plastic and it looked quite glossy. Humm, I know they make black too but if it doesnt have a nice finish that kind of sucks. I'll be looking for new plastic here shortly as well.

Ive come across the same problem. plastics for these awesome bikes are very hard to get...if you want quality. i originaly wanted black and silver for mine. then i realised the finish of the maier, and im now going for white with a black hood. shouldnt look too bad

Howdy,
I'm sad to say, but, you have two places to get LT250R plastic. OEM Suzuki from a dealer or the crap that Maier sells. I have Maier on my 86 and it looks like crap compared to new factory. I can get it to shine with a few coats of Mop N' Glow, but its still not as nice as factory. The fit and quality of Maier is very poor. If you would like you can check out my pics, it looks decent in them, but real life shows the poor quality.

does anybody remember the Dirt Wheels issue that had the VOR 530 quad on the cover. Well the is how i want to do my LT. Silver frame black shiny plastic. I aint goig to do what the guy that had my bike before did and spray paint it black. Does Suzuki sell black? is it possible to buff or even polish maier plastic?

You could buy the OEM and have it painted whatever color you want if you don't want to get the Maier which i also agree is poor quality and if you for some reason decide to get the Maier, get it Gloss Clear Coated or somethin!........just my 2 cents !
