Suzuki recalls all 7,400 2000-2001 50cc quadmaster youth atv's

Suzuki announced today that they are recalling all 7,400 2000-2001 LT-50A Quadmasters.
The reason for the recall --- the chain will come off the rear sprocket and bind up the rear axle. As a result, the rider can be thrown from the atv without warning.

I am a lt50 owner and I got notified about this via mail. The net of it is that they did not correctly torque the four bolts that provide the adjustment for the chain. The corrective action by the dealer was to adjust the chain and torque the bolts. No parts replaced. From here on out proper adjustment becomes the owners responsibility.
BTW - everyone check the bolts quick. The ones on my son's quad were loose.

Carlos,
The Suzuki is not bad. What really matters is the size of your kid. You may want to consider the Kasea Skyhawk 50 if your kid can fit a slightly larger atv. It has front brakes, it is pre-wired for lighting, it has an electric starter, automatic choke and automatic fuel valve.
The Suzuki and Kasea are priced within a few dollars of each other.
