Has anyone ever put synthetic oil in a 2 stroke's trany? I have a 87 qz and wanting to baby the old monster a bit I put in synthetic trany oil for superbikes and a couple of weeks later noticed some oil on the floor under the belly of the great beast Oil was dripping from the sprocket seal. So I changed the seal. Then oil started dripping from the shifter shaft. Replaced that seal!!! A few weeks later from the sprocket again, by this time I'm getting a bit p.o. So I started talking to hydraulic specialists I work with and they tell me that some seals are not made for synthetic oil. So I e-mailed the manufacturer and they confirm that you shouldn't use synthetics unless the manufcturer recomends using that stuff!!! It would soften up all the seals that are in contact with the oil...even the crank seal on the clutch side. This explains sun blocking smoke following me and the oil dripping from the a$$ hole (exhaust). I had to replace every seal in the belly of the old monster!!! Needless to say that synthetics will never even come close to my stuff again, cars, quads etc...
