A local dealer sells the auto for $5300 and the 5-spd for $5000 (4x4). I've read a couple older posts and these prices seem like they might be a little higher than average. One guy said he paid $4700 for an auto. What would be a good price and what should I expect to pay for set-up, freight, and other micellanious rip-off charges?

The guys at the dealer also said that there would be price increase after Dec. 31. They said they didn't know how much but expected it to be significant, $500ish.

I wasn't expecting to be impressed by the Eiger but after checking it out I'm hooked. I was leaning toward a Kodiak but I like the Eiger better and it's at least a grand less. The only thing I don't like is that you have to stop to shift to 4x4.

If there's anyone out there who has an Eiger or a Vinson already let me know how you like it.

I looked at both the Eiger and Kodiak this weekend. The Eiger was going for $5199 and the Kodiak for $5899.

I like the Kodiak over the Eiger because the Kodiak has a 25cc larger engine and is 50 pounds lighter than the Eiger. It also accelerated better during my test ride. It felt lighter too.

What made you choose the Eiger? I haven't made my mind up yet so I'm interested in the things you like about your Eiger. Also, how is it now that you have it home and have ridden it more?

Thanks,
Mark

The eiger is an excellent buy for the $4660 I paid . Remember it is competing against the rancher and others in this price range. For $5200 is no bargain. The Kodiak is water cooled and once you get $600-700 away from water cooling the decision is a no brainer. $1200 difference and the decision becomes harder. The eiger runs smooth and fast for a air cooled machine but it is louder and runs hotter than a liquid. (You will feel the warm air between your legs when standing still)

I bought a VINSON and I really like it a lot. the dealer did not have an Eiger, but I was also looking at a KODIAK and I thought the Vinson was way better. Smoother motor and better ride. I came from a KING Quad which i did not like that much and was not really looking at another Suzuki but I was genuinelly impressed by this bike.

Well, I went back to the dealer at lunch and again rode the Kodiak, Eiger, and Vinson. I have to take back what I've previously said about the Eiger. Even though the Kodiak has a bigger engine and is lighter, the Eiger accelerates quicker when you stab the throttle. The salesman said it's because of engine design, the Eiger has a 4 valve engine and the Kodiak a two valve engine. It went against my intuition that a smaller engine and heavier ATV would acclerate faster than a lighter ATV with a bigger engine. Go figure.

I rode the Vinson and have just about made up my mind to get one. The Kodiak retails for $6199, the Vinson $6599. I'd like to know what the Vinson owners have paid. The dealer is quoting $6300.

Thanks,
Mark

To me the Eiger is way more comfortable than the Kodiak. I don't like the forward pitch on the Kodiak's seat and the handle bars seem a little high, I guess it puts you in a more aggresive position but it seems like it would be brutle on a long ride. Is there really a discernible differance in weight between a 550lb quad and a 600lb quad? I also like that I can choose between an auto or 5-spd. I thought that the auto Eiger and the Kodiak were about the same for acceleration, the 5-spd was a little quicker than both. (Disclaimer: these findings are based on a 30 second test drive in the parking lot.)

I would like to be able to try both the Kodiak and Eiger on a trail to really find out how well they handle and how the suspension works.

Well I went to yet another dealer in the area and he quoted $5995 for the Vinson and $4700 for the Eiger. And that doesn't include any negotiating on the price or the $300 in free accessories Suzuki throws in.

So I still need to talk to make him a lower offer and see if he takes it. Maybe if I don't want the accessories, he'll come down a couple more hundred.
