Hey guys,
I'm looking forward to hearing more about your Vinsons. Personally I think 500cc's should be plenty for an ATV and when I trade in I don't really want to go for a big bore if there is a good 500 around.

That being said, I rushed down to the dealer when the first Vinson came in, and within about two minutes I didn't like what I saw. I use my quad in some really rough terrian, and I was really disappointed that there wwas no metel behind the plastic on the front of the Vinson. There was also few good places to lift on in the front. That's a necessity for me. I walked away thinking that the Quadmaster would be a better choice for me, but it doesn't have the performance I want.

It's really hard to find a quad that's light, tough and with good performance.

Let me know how things go with the Vinson's though. Maybe with an aluminum bash plate in the front it might still be the quad for me.

the locker on the prarie is by far the best design. It is mutch more controlable than you think.

very reliable and at any speed you can lock the front end. Positive locking instantly. No other atv has this capability on the fly.

My friend is seriously looking at the Vinson for his second machine (also has a prairie) to replace his magnum 500 he just sold. As far as ride goes how does it compare to some other machines?

newfiebullet,
Not trying to be a wise guy or anything, but you better take a another look behind that plastic on the front of the Vinson, there is a full tubular bumper behind there. The only place there is none is about 2 inches on either side below the head lights.
Suzuki is going to have a brush guard/bumper assy. available soon as a accessory along with a full line of bolt on goodies, also the plastic is of the polyethelene type which will bend a hell of a lot before it will break.Happy Holidays to all!!!

Yes the plastic has the metal bumper behind most of it and yes its hard to get a good grab on it.
And yes the plastic is breakible if pulled the wrong way
Ride the Quadmaster and the Vinson, and you will forget all about that front plastic. But like I have said elsewhere the Suzuki Accessory Catalog has a nice front lower bumper that should solve any problems you have with the front plastic.

Do you have any pics of the Vinson with the Bugs on it? I am thinking of getting a size or two larger tire for my Vinson as well. Did you use the stock rims and do the 27's rub or cause any other notcible problems?

grizz,
maybe I'm lazy, but I can't justify having one more thing to do while going through some mud or snow. For the money we have to pay for these machines nowadays, they should be able to do it automatically with out any manual input from the rider. Polaris has a good set-up, but now that I've tried the Vinson, I think it's better than the Polaris 4-by system. Plus the Suzuki steers a lot easier than my old SP. Just my $.02.

ursus,
The 27" bugs cause no problems that I have seen yet,I think there may be a little bottom end power loss though(very little)I figure soon as Dynojet get's a kit together,a filter and jet adjustment will take care of any loss. You could put 28's on with no problem as far as I can see.I'll see what I can do for pics (no scanner, old non high tech guy you know). This is a good excuse as any to get one though and figure it out!I can tell you the bugs make her look really wide though!Just a little snort of throttle in the goo,and everyone within 10 yards including myself get's slimed, they really sling the goo!!

I'm getting 20-25 mpg with mine. And that's primarily trails riding averaging 10-15 mph. It's been jetted rich and I've just rejetted for altitude. I haven't had a chance to take it out in the snow yet with the new jetting.

What width bugs are you running and how bad to they stick out past the fenders? The stockers stick out about 1 1/2 inches which can slime pretty good in the sloppy stuff, Id hate to see what 3 inches sticking out would do

I havnt gotten a good MPG reading yet, only have 100 miles on her and havn't run the tank near empty before refilling.

Ursus,

Where did you get your Vinson at? I see you are from Clinton and I live between Paris and Clinton. Where do you usually ride at? Are you happy with the Vinson? I am hoping to purchase one sometime around Christmas.
