Did I mess up my head?
#1
I just finished polishing the head on my bike with two different kinds of fine grit sand paper...
The piston exploded in it so I cleaned up the head with the dremel to a nice, smooth even surface with a few minor bumps.
Anyways, the head had a grainy, dark grey texture prior to sanding.
Now it has a shiny, smooth texture...
Do you think the graininess served as a heat sink, or do you think Suzuki were just lazy and didn't want to spend the extra $3 an hour paying 50 dudes to polish 9,000,000 heads... lol...
I'm, worried I might have made the combustion chamber's sealing surface a little uneven... I made it shiny too.
So, did I mess up my head or maybe tack on another .2 hp on a really hot day? I think I'm going to buy some more stuff to make it, and other parts really shiny, I can go over to the body shop next door and they'll gimme a few tips, they polished this one bellhousing I saw REALLY good.
I'm also considering porting or polishing the inside of the water-flangey thingy a little to improve flow...
Thoughts?

I wouldn't mess with the water pump. As far as the head goes, it'll probably be carboned up within 10 min or so, so I wouldn't worry about that. Although, since you did remove material from it, you decreased your compression and probably lost .001 horsepower, but since its smoothed and the flame travel from the plug is improved, you may have gained that .001 horsepower back, so you should be all set...........
