Hey. I am very close to purchasing an '87 lt250r. I was wondering if it is a very good race quad. I am not sure if i want to put a lot of money into it to race, if it's worth doing so, or use it to practice this year and buy something better? Thx, Will.

Well, it could be. Compared to a 250R, I am sure it doesn't handle as well, but I can't remember anything about the 250R when I rode one so I can't really compare the two. Mt neigbors LT250 was fast the first time I rode it compared to my old LT230 and the Blaster I rode, and about the same as my CR250. If you put on some +2 A-Arms, shocks, and extended axle, it will be pretty good on a local level MX race. If your racing TT or flat track, it will be really nice to have because of the slightly faster motor than the 250R. I think if you are going to be doing alot of MX, i wouldn't buy it, because the frames have a tendecy(sp?) to crack alot, even the newest models. If you are only racing a few times a year, then it would be alright. I don't know how it would do in GNCC type stuff, probably not as well as a 250R, 400EX, or Cannondale would though.

It is faster than a Honda and is built much stronger, but the Suzuki does not handle as well and it is harder to learn how to jump. They can't even compare in the whoops.
Anyone one who can ride a suzuki good will fly if put on a Honda. Thats why I got a 400ex but will always keep the LT.

Is Grunthal open to quads this year? I was at a meeting the other day, They said that grunthal wont allow quads because they ruin the tracks? But that may have changed. They also said that MMA was cancelling the quadracing this year, because it was not worth their time.

That's weird... I'll take your word for it. I heard something along those lines but I'm kinda "out of the loop".

There's a new club now that you pay $5 to enter or something? Do you need to pay to race now? Where are we racing?

Yeah, I havent signed up for the club, yet. I may not race this year, but i'll still show up for some races. Might build up a 250r :-\ , not sure yet. I'm not sure how the club works though. I guess it will cost us money if we want the track to ourselves? If it does, wheres the money comming from, for it. I thaught, if we had enough people joined, we would be able to appeal mma's decision, and show them we are worth their while(hoju's). As for the track, there were a few dudes at the meeting that new some track owners, i guess, and their going to talk to them this week, maybe to see if they will let us race on our own times. It's all pretty much, up in the air. I think Mark, or the the president dude should hold another meeting at the end of this week, or soon.
