The hand shifter on my eiger wouldn't shift smoothly from reverse to high. The dealer told me to push down on the foot shifter handle when moving the hand shifter. This releases the automatic clutch and allows the hand shifter to move effortlessly. Just thought I would post this if anyone is interested.

Did that actually help you? I'm a Suzuki Dealer and hadn't heard that so I tried it but it doesn't make a difference. How many miles do you have, and have you ridden it in warmer wheather? Our service rep told us that cold wheather makes it hard and breakin will help it.

 

My eiger isn't even broken in yet. It only has about 50 miles on it. I have noticed that it does shift much easier after the oil warms up. But using the trick that I mentioned (holding the foot lever completely down) really makes a big difference with ease of shifting until everything warms up.

My dealer also told me that the problem with hard shifting will resolve itself after I get about 200 miles on the bike. Apparently Suzuki backcut the reverse gear which makes it more difficult to shift from Reverse back to Neutral.

I would appreciate any tips or advice that you might have for me since this is my first quad.

After reading this post, I tried the shift lever thing on mine this afternoon. I didn't ride it around, just had it sitting in the shed, but I couldn't tell any real difference by using the shift lever.

BTW - I've got 83 miles on it, also haven't had a chance to track down the knocking noise.

I guess you know about the recall Suzuki had on these a while back? I would check to see if the dealer had to do the recall or the factory. We had one come from the factory that had the clutch assembled wrong during the recall. It was a simple fix. Ours was bad enough that it wouldn't move though. We also had one that made a little more noise than normal after some miles, but after a thorough inspection couldn't find anything wrong. Maybe someone left a wrench under the side cover...kidding. I'd have your dealer look at it.

Oh yea, I love it. I've been plowing with it this winter. I've only put 235 miles on it but I'm pretty sure it's a keeper. How are they selling at your dealership?

They've been selling really good, especially with the 2.95% interest rate they are offering. It's hard for me to believe, but the bright yellow has been the most popular.
