My brother has a 00 kingquad that hits the rev limiter at about 35mph.This seems to be too slow of a max speed to me.Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

truck,

The max Dynojet could get out of a KQ was around 45 mph. Check out http://www.dynojet.com/newgraphs.shtml

Hope this helps.

I had a 95' Kingquad that would hit 58 mph. Bike was loaded with warn 2000 winch and front and rear storage boxes which all weighted about 100 lbs extra. Rode with a 91' Kingquad that would hit 60 mph with 2 good size adults on it.

You might need to check the throttle limiter screw. Someone may have set the screw in to reduce your speed during breakin.

Happy riding with your bike. Hope this helps.

Uncle.... I don't think it is possible for a KQ to go that fast. Maybe the speedometere said you and your buddy were going that fast. Atv speedo's are know in general to be off by about 5 MPH give or take.

Yamahagye, You might be correct in most cases, but speed was also checked with GPS that was mounted on bike.

Maybe the older KQs went that fast, but the new ones don't. One reason that might contribute could be that Suzuki went down in carb size to a 29mm from (I think) a 31mm.

I wish mine went that fast. The Vinson's are only supposed to top out around 58 - 60 mph.

Were you guys going downhill?

I own a 2001 King Quad...its top speed(without melting the engine down!)
is 70 kmh (43.49 mph). It is not built for speed!

No stock KQ can go ANYWHERE near 55mph,much less 58-60 mph.I had a 1986 Quad Runner,it topped out at around 43mph.My bro's 97 KQ would top out at around 48mph.Stock speedo's have been known to be way off before, sounds like someone's GPS is giving incorrect readings to?

Maybe the GPS was measuring kilometers? Just kidding, could be though.
