Whats a 92 LT250R worth?
#1
Considering a 92 LT250R with freshly rebuilt engine and trans and new plastic. Any suggestions what a good price would be? If I get it, I'll be replacing a Polaris Trailblazer that my 13 year old son rides. He rides well and has outgrown the Trailblazer and is ready for something sportier/faster. He has been riding my Cannondale Speed some with no problems but I think the C-dale may be a little much for him, is the LT hard to handle?

2-strokes like the lt250r aren't the best thing to be riding when you come off of a trailblazer , Even though he can probably use a clutch its still going to be hard for him. I say buy him a 300ex/400ex you won't be disapointed.

Does your son have intentions of racing ever? If he does the LT probably isn't the right choice. If he is just going to "recreation ride" then it would be a great choice. My neighbors paid $1600 for theirs, then had to put exactly $999.99 in the motor because 5 hours later it bent the crank. Don't pay more than $3000 for one.

Sweet quad. 92 was a good year. I don't know how much it's worth in American money, or how much quadracers go for in Virginia but I do know that's the last year they made these fine quads. The only other year that quad's rear suspension was made was 91.

<< Why do you say your c-dale will be to much for him. I think a four stroke is much easier to ride than a 2 stroke. >>
It's hard for me to keep the front end down on the C-dale at times and I'm 210 lbs compared to his 125. I thought the 2-stroke with less torque may be easier. If he wants to race in a couple years I will probably let him race the Dale. 300ex is barely faster than his modded Trailblazer.

<< Whats the asking price on the LT? Does he have reciepts(SP?) for the rebuild? >>
Asking $2800 or best offer, so I could probably get it for $2500. Don't know about reciepts or anything as I haven't called on it yet, thought I'd ask here first.

Don't know if the LT is the best thing for a 13 year old, if you think he is ready you can give it a try. They have strong power and are easier to ride than most 2-strokes because of the power-valve, but still come on very strong. I don't really have a problem with mine standing up but I run 18's for MX and the bike has a long stance, just spins. Price wise I wouldn't take any less than 3 grand for mine but I have over 7 in it.
