Even though not much is for certain on the LTZ400 yet, I would(and am!) get it over a raptor.
I have heard too many bad things about the Raptors reliability, even from yamaha dealer mech.'s themselves! SUZUKI all the way, they already dominate in streetbike's, and it sounds like soon it will be atv's as well!

I guess 40 isn't out of the question, but I have heard like 35 or so. I have also heard there supposed to make like 5hp or so more than the 400ex, but as I am fairly new to atv's I have noclue of the other machines numbers. I do know there is a big difference in hp at crank, and bhp, meaning at the wheels. Don't 400ex's only make like 26 or so at the wheels?

stock for stock,I believe the raptor is the more powerful of the two. However, I think the suzuki may handle better. As for problems are concerned. yamaha has addressed the problems with the raptor for 2002. My raptor runs like a raped ape with no problems at all. Go with the raptor. You will not be disappointed!!!
