My 2000 king quad 300cc seem to be stalling. Looking into it it farther it is actually OVERHEATING then stalling. Or at least the red oil temp light is coming on as I ride slow. I think it is prematurely overheating? Has anybody had their light come on while hill climbing or other conditions?

I don't know anything about your quad, but I have a DS650 and my temp/oil light was flickering on and off when I came to a stop. The oil sensor measures oil pressure. The oil pressure is at a minimum when idle. I just ignore it since my engine is not overheating and the oil is full. I guess the sensor is right on the edge of detecting low oil pressure if your idle is set very low. If I touch the throttle to increase the RPM, the flickering stops.

Hey McMillion, I have a 00 KingQuad. I haven't had any of the problems, you are describing, as of
yet anyway. You may want to check your oil cooler though. If it is stopped up with mud or something or if the fins are folded over, it won't pull enough air through it, to cool the oil, while you're riding at slow speeds. I stay in the mud alot, but we always ride through the creek afterwards to wash the mud off of the engine and cooler. Good luck.
Low-Gear.

The first thing to inspect is the oil cooler fins. Hopefully you have not clogged them with mud. In any event give them a thorough cleaning and start from there.

Suzuki does offer a fan kit to cool off this machine, which is recommended if the quad is exposed to long periods of slow speed high load conditions. (pulling a plow, muddy forest trails in creeper gears) Good luck. Continued overheating on a KingQuad will result in oil consumption. Keep your oil fresh.
