Z400 drag racing - Little Sahara, OK
#1
I just got back from a day and a half of riding at Little Sahara, OK. After about 6 hours of break in time, I finally opened up the throttle and so I thought I'd share my results. This is not a comment on handling or jumping, just my experiences and observations at the drag strip. There were only 2 Z's at Little Sahara this weekend and we seemed to have the same results. My Z is bone stock except for the Sand Sharks on 8" rims. The strip is approximately 200 yds.
Here's my results:
1. Vs stock 400EX - No contest, Z400 wins.
2. Vs piped and jetted 400EX - Almost identical speed, whoever wins the holeshot wins this race. Same result vs. a stock 250R.
3. Vs stock Raptor - Z400 hangs tight through 3 gears, the big 660 takes over after that. Raptor wins by 3-4 quad lengths. I did win one race agains a stock Raptor but the other rider out-weighed me by 100 lbs, He may have missed a gear.
4. Vs piped and jetted Raptor - No contest, Raptor wins by 4 or more lengths. Same result vs Cannondale.
I also beat a stock LT250. Banshee's and Quadzilla's always won, as would be expected. Had a great time this weekend and can't wait to mod this thing.

250EXcited, Was that you that was looking for me at the north campground Friday evening?
I was in town looking for a piston for a 250R. We had to get the piston at the store at the south camp & have the cylinder honed at Little Sahara ATV in town.
I cruised the south campground several times Friday & Saturday & didn't see any orange ribbons on flag poles.
Sorry we missed each other.
Are you still coming to the sand drags next weekend?

Dex2380 - It was a Cannibal.
THEMOOSE - Yeah it was me, I asked the people at the next campsite and they said you were in town getting parts. I didn't have any ribbons, sorry, but I cruised through the north campgrounds a couple more times and didn't see your Raptor again. I won't be able to make Atoka this weekend, but I'll be back at Little Sahara on June 1-2. Will you be there?
1986atc250r - Just trying to be as factual as possible. I had never drag raced before and man! did I have a blast. I think I've got the bug now. Win or lose it was just plain fun. If I had the bucks I'd have 1 of every major sport quad in my garage ( First I have to get a bigger garage).
Saw an awesome custom sand drag machine this weekend too. It had a Katana 1100 motor, 4 headpipes, and 4 carbs. I can't describe the sound but it was like the space shuttle liftoff or something.
