How does the Z handle rocky terrain? Does it drag bottom a lot below the swingarm skid plate? Is it too high geared for technical trails?

The wife and I hit this REALLY technical trail yesterday. First gear almost all the way, second in like 2 spots, and this thing goes for about 10 miles. Mountain lion, rattle snake country near Foresthill. There is a new movie coming out called "XXX", where Vin Diesel is crossing a bridge and jumps off of it in a vette to parachute to the ground. That is the spot we were riding all around! It's like a 900 foot change in elevation, pretty steeply. I crawled over stuff just fine and climbed some seriously crazy black diamond hills. It only tapped the swingarm skidplate once though.
All in all, I'm happy, impressed and satisfied with this quad. Tomorrow I'll go to more familiar riding territory and start to open it up a little more to get the feel. I need to make suspension adjustments to suit me and so on too.

And about the axle: that's total bs, have you heard about more than one bent Z400 axle? I bet that one here was a fluke, the old LT250's axle was strong, and the new Z's axle is pretty much the same one.

And... What about the 01 Raptor's axle? LOL... Yeah, that's what I thought...

*shutdown*

Yea and about the 900.00 bucks you got on the Raptor you better invest more because Suzuki has been out of the game to long and every quad you see out there is going to smoke you they had more time to modify.

3Sportsman you should be nice, It's not nice to quad bash. I see you live in Pennsylvania. Take your Raptor to one of those mx tracks around there and then come back and comment on how bad the 660 is. See anybody can make the machine they ride look better then somebody else's. Racing atv's is almost non existant in Utah compared to back east, but I'm not dumb or blind. Keep bashing you're doing good!!!! I'm a former Raptor owner, but tranny headaches don't sit well w/ me, or axle problems, or carb boots or starter problems. You get the pic.

Dont get me wrong you said you once had a Raptor so you know how they both are. There are no problems with my 02 Raptor so far I see why you switched because of the 01 tranny I would to.But you dont know how that suzuki is going to hold up either. But do you really think that a modded 400 will beat a modded Raptor your nuts. As of racing in Pa. Yea theres alot of tracks but if I was racing I would have a 250R or a Cannodale(the good one moto?) But for trail riding you cant beat a four stroke Iam just bashing you guys you got a nice ride (400Z) It would of been nice if they threw in the good dirt bike motor though wonder why they didnt?.
