I decided to take off the airbox lid, snorkel, and spark arrestor today. In doing so I pulled my carborator off and changed the main jet to a 145. I wasn't impressed with the new performance so I decided to go back to stock. After I got everything back together it would only run in the prime position on the petcock. It would run fine and everything seemed normal like it was supposed to be that way. When I turned it to on or even reserve it would run the gas out from the bowl and then die . As soon as it would start to die I could switch it over to prime and it would catch and be fine. There are 2 lines running from the petcock to the carb. I tried connecting them both ways. One was better but something is wrong. Any help would be great...

Wow, bum deal. I don't really have any advice, but I'll learn from what you've done and just leave mine be for now. I'm sure that I'll mess mine up later, HA! Keep us posted friend.
peace

hmm, it sounds like the valve isn't opening up to let the fuel in. i'm not familiar with this set up since it doesn't have an "off" selection. i imagine that the valve (petcock) opens up via vacuum when the engine is running. see if you missed a vacuum hose (if there is) that goes to the valve. let me know either way. i'll examine mine tomorrow and i'll figure it how it exactly works.

If one of the hoses is for vaccum and you have them backward, I could see a problem.

On the back of your fuel valve there is a small hose. It is a vacuum hose that attaches to the top left side of your carb. If it is not connected, the vacuum from the engine will not open the fuel valve. It is a safty valve like most street bikes use. Also beware that removing the air box lid will effect the suction on the main jet and you will need a main jet a lot larger than 145.

It sounds to me like you are getting too much fuel when you go to reserve or on, causing the bowl to overfill and flood the bike out. Something might have happened to the float valve the last time you had it apart.

problem fixed. I had the hose that is connected up through the snorkel in the wrong place. There are two hoses that go from the petcock to the carb and one vent hose that is routed up through the snorkel.

For those wanting to know why I took the carb out and apart in the 1st place, it was so I good put on a throttle. Works great..
