LT 500?
#1
I have a bunch of questions on this quad. Does anyone seriously know the top speed of this quad?? in take off how many lengths will it beat the other quads, such as the DS, raptor, shee, R, so on... How bad is it on breakin down if u keep pretty good care of it? how much price wise do they run for an average one? Are they loud stock???

Loud, its a 500CC 2 stroke. YES. (but sounds AWESOME)
The top speed bone stock is about 80MPH. (79.XX)
Before my recent complete rebuild + port-polish ect,
I raced my buddies 2 piped, jetted, and K&N equipt raptors.
This was extremely dusty conditions where traction was SOOOOOO limited.(especially so on a big bore 2 stroke)
I spun and roosted literally through all five gears and by
300-400 feet I had pulled probably 7-9 lengths on them.
Also before my rebuild, I was in glamis (with paddles) where traction
was there and I could launch in third gear sittin' on the tank.
Raced two Shee's up comp. hill.
first one must have been stock. I instantly pulled many lengths on him.
The second (his buddy I guess) was modded and had some stickers on his bike that said
something like "stage one". cant remember.
We were dead even up comp. He was quick and a good rider.
Reliability is no concern if you take care of it.
BUT, all Zillas came from the factory eventually needing main bearing inserts pressed in. This requires the cases to be split. Once you get this done, (if it already isnt on a Zilla you might buy) take good care of it, and it will take good care of you.
Hope I helped.

And a word of advice I know someone will come in here saying they are unreliable peices of junk but mine has been just as reliable as my 400ex and I take good care of it so they are only as relible as the owner who takes care of them.

My '88 is all stock and isn't very loud, the sound seems to carry a long way though. As for comparing it to the Bombs and Raptors, I recently raced a new raptor from a dead stop and top speed and simply walked away from it. My quad has been extremely reliable with only top end maintenance and greasing the many bearings on the suspension. Karl

I own both, with both being modded. Raptor is piped, jetted, air boxed, and filtered.
500 is piped jetted and slightly ported. The 500 is way quicker in a drag race. Their
about the same top speed with stock gearing, 79-81 MPH. However, I run the 500
with a bigger front sprocket all the time with no problems and its still much faster in a
drag race and has more top end. A friend of mine has his Raptor piped, jetted,
filtered, high comp. piston, and cam. and the 500 is still quicker.
The Raptors are much louder then the 500 is. The 500 sounds louder riding it due to
the pipe pinging.
As far as breaking down I've had better luck with the 500 but they both need ALOT
of attention!!
Hope this helps.
