Today I went for a 2 hour trip to finish out the 8-10 hour break-in period on my new Z. Came home and drained the oil out of the resevoir and then the crankcase. The plug in the crankcase has a magnet at the tip and to my suprise had more metal shavings than I was expecting. I don't know if it's because of the aluminum-alloy or a close tolerance engine. The engine is definately pulling stronger now than day one. It has developed a growl in the mid-range that sounds awesome. I am a long lived honda fan, and have said for years I would never own a suzuki. But I do now and am 100% pleased, just hope it lasts like my honda did. This bike handles excellent and is very predictable. Anyways I don't know whether to be concerned about the metal shavings or not.

I wouldn't be to concerned at all, I have yet to do my oil change, maybe I should do that tonight. On my 500i I had shavings in the differential and engine, its all part of the break in. Unless your talking about huge slivers of metal, then you got a problem.
