I am planning on getting some paddles for my Z. However, I am not sure what would be better, a straight paddle or V paddle. I have heard that the straight paddles are a little harder to turn, but hook up awesome in the sand. Also heard that the V paddle are easy to turn and hook up good.

Any feedback is appreciated. Also, any recommendations on what tire is best would be nice. I was thinking the GBC Sand Sharks.

if you want to do draging straight, go with the straight. but if you want to cruise or fly around in the sand, go with the V. the V are better at turning then the straight, and the straight would be great for racing. hope this helps.

For the price I like the sand sharks, We use them on our blaster and they seem to do almost as good as our more expensive sand skate II's. I have the kenda geckos on my Z400 and really like them. They seem to hook up well and have no problem turning or doing donuts. I have the geckos on my 400ex and also had them on my banshee.

get the straight paddle haulers or the sand devils and with that get mohawks or another front sand tires. the straight paddles hook up awesome and with the front sand tires they turn great. i noticed a huge difference from the front stockers to the mohawks. in my opinoin V paddle are a waste of performance and power. the straight paddles still turn almost as good as the V paddles do anyways.

I have tried both on my modified lt250r and the straight paddles are the only way to go. I really couldn't tell much difference in the turning ability between the two, but the straight cut paddles hook up so much better. Hope this helps.

Here's the way I look at it. You can compensate for the reduced turning of straight paddles by using sand tires in the front. You cannot make up for the lack of traction of V paddles.

Besides, I have always run straight paddles and never felt they were too difficult to turn. I now have some GBC Dunetracker front tires and it turns very easily; a little too easy sometimes but it's a matter of getting used to the new set-up.

some 20" haulers with 8 paddles would be nice on that Z400....
