After reading all your comments on this forum I decided on a Z400 to replace my 300EX, tried to sell 300EX for 6 months and gave up and did a trade in on Friday 7-12-02. Boy what an improvement over my 300EX, I set throttle limiter to 1/2 throttle to keep temptation away till broke in but even at 1/3 throttle you can feel the power this baby has, thanks for helping me make this choice, so far I love this quad. Dirtbadger, I did the same thing, went from a 300EX to the Z. What a differance!!! I have aprox 50 hrs on mine so far, and have enjoyed every minute. No problems so far, except for bent sprocket(my falt, plastic guards).

I'm sure you have your fingers crossed, like me, hopeing the Z is as tough as our EX's, only time will tell.

I rode mine on some smooth trails for a long day and that was about it for my break-in. I bought my Z from a really small dealer, the Z I got was the last of three. I think every one and their brother took a test ride on my Z before I bought it. I think it got a hill-billy-break-in. The tread on the rear tires had that "been spinnin" look to them. But I got a good price, and got it the day I wanted it, and only had to drive 30 min to get it.

ENJOY THAT Z !!!

I'm with you on that switch from a 300ex to the Z400, it takes ATVing to a whole new level. I've had mine about a month and a half now and have been to Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois and Texas. Needless to say I also was concerned about reliability. I've ridden in 100 degree temps, rolled it back down a hill, come up short on a double, been in the sand, mud, gravel, dust, I could keep going. My point is, I beat it all day long, bring it home, wash and a little maintenance and I'm out beating it on the next weekend.

Y'all just wait. They get better with time. Power really starts coming on after you put some hours under the hood. It's a totally new machine from when I first got it. We have two, and have had them for a little over two months and I cannot wait to go riding, again and again and again until I can't ride no more.
I love this machine. Enjoy yours

hindelk,
Uniontown Ohio is about 25 minutes south east of Akron, Ohio right next to Hartville, State route 43 and state route 619. We ride at Wayne National forest and some private property in southeast Ohio.
