Don't get rid or the EX if you are only after the stock power. The Z gaines very little on the EX thru 3rd gear, only after 3rd does the Z really start pulling away.

I draged a stock Raptor on asphalt 3 times, I beat him the first time(not sure what happened to him), he beat me the next 2 times by about 2 bike lengths. But like the EX & Z, the raptor only starts to pull the Z after I'm in 4th.

I rode a 400EX a couple times(a friends) and decided on the Z. I still like the EX, but went with the Z for the Liquid cooling\reverse. You really need to ride the Z before you get rid of the EX. There is a differance in the way the two handle, I haven't figured it out yet, but they aren't equal!

The only Raptor I have ever rode was the one I raced against. You are goeing through the same crap I went through 1 1\2 months ago. I knew I wanted something faster than the EX but still handled well. The Raptor and Z was the only logical choices. I have 50+ hard hrs on the Z with no problems("knock on wood&quot.

If you want the POWER, Raptor is the only choice. I wish I could aford both!!!

Good luck,

Later...

i havent raced a raptor but my Z beats a banshee with filter and 14th front sprocket. its close but only in a long race does the banshee eventually win ( 6th gear ). i have my pipe and filter on now, but havent got a chance to ride yet. it should eat up a stock raptor easily though. i also have a ex. the Z has alot more power too me. with the 14th on the ex though it is close till 3rd gear. they handle about the same, but its easy to handle the Z cause of the seat design. i can really throw it around.

Sell ex, buy Z. With money saved by getting Z, buy axle, pipe, k&n w/outerwears, lose the lid. Blow away the raptors and you've still spent less than a raptor. I love my Z. Raptor is an excellent quad too.
