Thanks for your replies guys!

Terd, can you install the aftermarket tie rods on your own or do you need your dealer to do it? What type of tools do you need?

Thanks,

Ash

Hey Guys,
I read on another site (GT Thunder.com) or something like that, that the Honda 400ex Tie-rods and ball joints whould swap over. I know I paid like 4.00 each for my tie rods on my 400ex, so, depending on the price of the tierod ends, you may get off pretty cheap. Try it out before you invest the cash, just in case. Once I heard out how cheap the tie rods were, I bought 4, out group has quite a few 400ex'x, and it comes in handy.

Hey ash i got mine on ebay they are alluminum billet $43.95 wasn't bad so i took the plunge.
As far as what tools to use i used needle nosed pliers, small adjustable wrench, 14 mm. socket. Not a tough job that would require you paying the dealership to much money an hour, when you can do it yourself and invest your money in some cool mods. Goodluck and if you have more ????'s i'm sure evry1 in here is more than happy to help...buy the way...this is terds much better half at the key board... he is laughing at me and telling i give way to much info... but i'm a WOMAN and we don't leave out details. LOL... I will be known as "TERD 2 THE BETTER HALF"

Thanks Terd 2. Tell him he shouldn't laugh at you because I don't have a clue as to what I am doing. I just purchased the arms off of ebay for the same price. Hopefully, my joints are not screwed up because it only comes with the arms. I think the joints are still ok.

I need to try not to hit things anymore and I should be ok!

Thanks for your help!!!

Jason

This is "terd 2" just like you ASH i am learning about all this stuff so don't be affraid to ask. There are alot of people in these forums and i am amazed at how much they know about the sport. They seem to be more then willing to help, and offer suggestions. We should be getting our rods tuesday and hopefully he should be ready to ride again. "I HOPE" right now his bike is with the dealer and they are checking everything out for us. Let us know how it goes for you.

first the axle, now the frame. The weaknesses are starting to show. By the way, this is not a flame, im thinking about a z, but this doesnt look good. Maybe ill stick with my warrior or get a raptor. All their kinks seem to be out already.

Warrior, I hit a hard packed dirt embankment at 30 mph square against my right front tire. I am surprised that I only bent my tie rod.

Regards,

yes but other people seem to be a little disappointed because their frames are bending and they dont think it was a justified crash to do it. Maybe im missing something but i think terd may understand what im saying.

Yeah, the father felt really bad but I was also going too fast. It is an old dirt road so there is no speed limit but I was an idiot for going so fast.
