I agree with Oz400. I was going to use my hole saw but I couldn't remember who I lent it too. You know how friends and tools are.

YZguy- Yeah, anytime. Wildwash was the first place I took my Z. I grew up riding the SB mountains on the back side of Lucerne Valley, so I'm always up for that. I like technical, crossgrain, single track (well I guess it's double track now), moto-x, desert. I've only been to the dunes once with my Z, so I am a dune rookie, but it's a blast. My e-mail is JNJdsrt@aol.com.

jeffksf- The snorkel mod is just complete removal of snorkel and lid. My stock jet was a 130 main. My dealer said jets didn't exist when I asked. However, when I said I new they had them because they're selling Yoshis he pulled out a 152.5 and it cost 8 bucks--so there is no part #.

<< How much louder does it make it? >>

It's about 6db+ louder depending on throttle position

Are the Calif models detuned in some way??? I have had a number of posts where I have complained about the lack of low end, and many owners have disagreed with me. I do think the Z is jetted lean, at least on the low end.

Is this on CA Models only?? I do not see what you are talking about when I look at by spark arrestor. Can you give me more details on what you did?

322, have you tried to really wind out the motor with these mods. I've done the same basic mods as you. 152.5 main jet, removed sound baffle, no lid or snorkle. The quad really gained alot of power, but at high rpm's it studders. I'm either reaching the rev limiter or I need to play with the jetting some more. Have you noticed anything like this?

There is no difference between the states. All are the same.

It's the rev limiter. Might want to check for posts on gearing changes. That may be the easiest and cheapest way to affect it.

I don't think it's the rev limiter. I cut out the pea-shooter from my exhaust, removed that sound baffle & put in a 145 main jet, I can hold it against the rev limiter all day and it doesn't shudder.

When I had everything stock except for chopping out the pea-shooter, it would shudder near/at the rev limiter. It was definitely running lean.

I still think it's the rev limiter. I installed a 13 front sprocket, which may make it easier to rev high. I ran a 165 main yesterday and it ran great but my plug is black so it's definately rich. At least I have a starting point now so I can step down the main until the plug looks good. I have a 157.5 on hand, so I think I'll try that next.

What main jet should I use if I make the exhaust mod and cut a couple of 1 inch holes in back of air box.
