I hope those of you that have a 400Z will let me know if yours have a little knock in the gearbox at idle. Does anyone REALLY know why they do it. Thanks Todd

I have that little knock and so does my buddy. I'm not gonna pull an answer out of my a$$ so all I can tell you is that if your really worried about it, take it to the dealer and see what they say.

I did take it to the realer. They said it was normal but could not tell me what caused it They have only sold two or three of them.I sold my Craptor because of all the problems they have. It also had that noisy gearbox.

That doesn't sound to good RaptorACDC but if it makes you feel better my Warrior had that gearbox knock and nothing ever happened to the gears on it. My Z has the knock at idle too but gets quiet when I pull the clutch in.

Hi RaptorACDC,

Can you tell me what the major differences are from the Raptor to the Z400, acceleration, jumping, regular trail riding, etc, etc. I'm thinking about buying the Kawasaki version, KFX400. I used to own a Raptor myself, but I like the idea of the DOHC engine.

Thank you for your input,

IronBear

I never gave it 2 thoughts. I just ride it until it breaks and I don't think this noise is a major concern.

i think the noise you all are hearing is the clutch chattering, new MX bikes do it a lot, just adjust up the clutch.

IronBear, The Raptor is the best Quad that Yamaha has ever made{Ihave had a SHEE also}.I bought a like new raptor at avery good deal.I liked it and people that tell you they can stay with one in a drag race need therapy.Turing is the problem. They are to tall and narrow. I sold it cause of all the problems the 01s have. The Z400 is not as fast in the drag but it slides jumps better. I hope it is dependable.I would not trade it for any thing out now.
