Got mine for $500. I feel like it's worth every bit of it. Got a FMF pipe, FMF graphic kit, new Hole Shots on ITP rims. A spare set of ITP rims, and 2 cylinders. The only thing that was wrong with it was someone decided to overheat the motor. If you can do the engine work, then get it. I tore mine down completely to nothing, put in new engine seals, new gaskets, and will be sending one of the jugs off for a porting job here shortly. But in your case, it shouldn't be that hard to rebuild the motor. What's wrong with it exactly???

Even if you can't do the work yourself it is a good deal. You may be lucky and only need a hone and new piston which costs about $200 at a shop.

I just sold a 86 lt250r for $900. It just had the top end redone. The thing runs great. Had Fmf pipe on it. I have a 91 the is set-up for woods racing that I have to sell do to a injury and a new machine. any question about the machine e-mail me @ lt250r91@netzero.net

As for the 800 quad that is blown up it depends on the shape of the frame and what all needs done to it. if it missing parts or needs a complete top and bottom end rebuild the it might not be worth it. the big problem with a machine that doesn't run is you don't know what is all wrong with it. It might need clutch or tranny work or other things like that so be very careful and look it over very closely for signs of other damage.

First of all, what year is the quad. If it is 85-86 then it is workable, but if it is 87-92 then it is a good deal. Either way, get it. Especially with the mods. Running motors on Ebay can be bought for under $400, then sell your old motor for around $200
The market must be better in california. I have sold 3 1986 LT250s in good running condition for at least $1500, and it is tough to find one for less than $1200 that is any good.

I see how much you guys pay and I realize how much we are getting ripped off down here. Lt's go for at least $2000 and TRX's go for at least $4000.

Yep, we pay more for everything else in CA, so why should that come as a surprise? In the midwest where I came from you could pick up a decent 250r for around 1200 to 3000. In CA it would be closer to 4000. and don't even get me started on housing costs. :-)
