Has anybody taken their Z or KFX in the mud? If so what kind of wheels do you have, and/or mods?

I've taken mine in lots'o mud as it tends to rain a lot here in Washington state. It's a stock machine for now, but I will be putting on some 22's, dropping the front sprocket to a 13 and taking the rear to either a 41 or 42. Dunno which though yet. I can't wait to get some more clearance so I don't have to worry so much about dang ruts!

I ride alot of mud and I was surprized how well the Z does in the mud since it doesnt have that much ground clearance. I would say that it is as good as any other 2wd quad out there for mud and when I put 22 inch tires on, it will be even better.

Besides for ground clearance what else will a 22 inch tire do for you on the rear? I was thinking more of a 20 for me or maybe even an 18. Let me know.

Other than ground clearance the 22 inch rear will give you a higher top speed if you stick with your standard sprockets but im planning on going to a 13T front sprocket, that should keep the gearing power similar to stock. If you are planning on only mx racing or riding flat ground 18 inch rears would be best. I will eventually get a set of 18 inch for myself so i can throw them on when I go to the track.

I have taken my z in the mud here in El Paso. The stock clearance is good enough for my needs. The occasional flash flood pushes the z to the limit, but she holds up fine.
