I have a 98 King Quad and it will not start with the electric start. The neutral light will not come on. The battery is fine - lights & winch work at full power. It goes into neutral fine and runs fine when started with the manual start. Where do I start looking?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Checked the 15 amp and 20 amp fuses located in front of the Battery. Both are still good. Does anyone know if there is another fuse for the ingnition?

Sounds like the reverse light switch or neutral switch may need replacing or maybe even the coil. I had to replace my reverse light switch because of the same symptoms you describe. I was able to test, diagnose, and repair with the help of a factory service manual.

It's the neutral safty switch. My 250 4x4 did the same thing (still does). If yours is the same as mine there is a plug connector on the right side of the frame that goes down to the switch on the tranny. Disconnect the wires and ground the terminals with a jumper wire to the frame. Your neutral and reverse will light accordingly.
I carry a wire along when it leaves me stranded in the woods.

I had the same thing happen on our 96 king. Like Brian said you can just ground the wire under the seat and that will get you going. Once I got home, I took the neutral switch off. Typically, because they are behind the heat shielding, they get hot and the wire falls off. I just re-soldered the wire. It is still holding. It was cheaper than the $60 cdn to buy a new switch. It was a bigger job though to get at the switch.
