Break-in question?
#1
I just bought a new green Z and I was wondering if it is good/harmful to run the engine at idle for extended periods of time during the break-in period?
Reason for question: I have been told that I should break this bike in "easy" but I am finding it very difficult to stay off the throttle. It is too much fun to "feel" the power. So if I can leave it run while I go do something else - I would not be tempted. And, I could use-up some of those break in hours easily.
What do y'all think?

Just adjust the throttle limiter to half way. DON'T LET IT IDLE FOR EXTENDED TIME. Trust me. Heck, I'm sure it even says so in the manual. Be nice for ten hours, which ain't that long if you really ride, then change the oil and have fun. After twenty or so hours, it really starts to wake up. Ten hours of niceness is nothing compaired to the life of hell I'm sure it will be put through. Just my .02

I never break anything in and I have never had a problem. I don't have the patience and I want to ride.

Green Z just vary your speeds without reving the pez out of it for a couple hrs. I'm with WP, I don't really follow the 10 hr. break in and have never had a single motor problem. My green one is going to be alot faster{cams, piston, porting, and a FCR 40mm carb} just waiting on back ordered head gasket due any day.
